Calvin Moon & More! : Live at The Arcade DIY

Critical Zero brought Black Budget’s ep release show to The Arcade DIY on Sep. 23rd. The Arcade is known for being a local punk spot that hosts many underground shows. Calvin Moon was the first to perform and he quite nearly blew out the speakers. He played most of his more well-known songs, as well as some deeper cuts from his project “Everybody’s Cooler Than You”. Calvin brought rappers OwG and Germz out to perform Bricks2Bitches and Pure Evul. OwG even had the chance to perform a few of his own songs from his ep “A Beautiful Summer Evening”, as well as a new song releasing this week! Some of the most memorable moments from the show included Germz wearing a neck brace during the performance of “Break a Mf Neck”, the double performance of “Pure Evul” due to some technical issues, and mayoral candidate Steven Punwasi’s appearance.
Following Calvin Moon was Wednesday Bender, Sunlust, and finally Black Budget. Each act brought super high energy and built up to the finale that was Black Budget’s performance celebrating the release of their EP “Crown of Misery”. Overall, the night had a unique feeling to it, there was a sense of community and a distinctly punk feel to having live performances in a living room. This unfortunately leads to a longer conversation about the lack of venues and facilities for upcoming artists to use, however we’ll leave that for another day.
Massive shoutout to The Arcade for being one of the few venues in the city that are supporting artists, youth culture, and a safe environment for all different kinds of people and music.
