Boiler Room Toronto: Day 1

Photography, writing, and editing by Kian Gannon

On Sep. 15th, Boiler Room made their return to Toronto for the second time this year. Tickets were instantly sold out and a second date was added on the 16th. The lineup for the 15th included some of Soak’s finest, including Miasalav, Venus In Foil, and Soft Matter. The final two sets were led by Kyruh, ½ of B2B duo “Madness Of”, and Miley Serious coming all the way from Paris. Miasalav started off the night around 9pm, followed by Soft Matter, Venus In Foil, Kyruh, and Miley Serious. Each set was distinct and had their own sound which kept the crowd going all night. Leading up to the event we were worried that they would be using the stage at Parkdale Hall, however in true Boiler Room fashion they kept the stage on the floor. It was set up in the middle of the room surrounded by the crowd on all sides, support beams held up projectors, lights, and tons of other equipment to ensure the visuals matched the feel of the sound. Some of Toronto’s most recognizable DJ’s and creatives in the community were present in the crowd and “VIP” area not only on the 15th, but on the 16th as well being that many locals made up that line-up. If you couldn’t attend Boiler Room this time around, I highly recommend you move fast on tickets when they return to Toronto as it’s a night that you’ll never forget.

Thank you to Boiler Room for having us help document Day 1 of their return to Toronto, we are extremely grateful that an organization of this size remains grounded and involved in local communities around the world.
