“Planet Porq” : Celebrating The Best of Global Sounds VIA Porqueria

Porqueria Party launches its first calendar - a week celebrating the best of global sounds in Canada: Planet Porq.
Porqueria Party, founded by Samia Liamani, a Montreal-native and now Mexican transplant, has come together with some of the other best ‘Global Sounds’ collectives in the city to bring you a week of exciting events in Montreal, Toronto and Halifax from February 2nd to February 11th, 2024.
With the rise of the ‘Global Sounds’ umbrella in recent years, we have seen countless events in nightlife reunite different cultures, transforming the party scene into a celebration of connection and community. From South African Amapiano to Brazilian funk to Reggaeton to Angolan Kuduro, French Carribean Shatta, the common thread is the undeniably infectious way you will want to move your body to the beat.
“It’s amazing to see others embrace each other's cultures through music, and these events are so versatile. Rather than highlight one specific kind of music, we are more focused on promoting a sense of community. The nightlife scene can be seen as competitive, but I think Discoño, Frikiton, Up Records, See you Later, The Banga Experience (HFX), Diaspora (CDMX) and Porqueria (CDMX) coming together can be a nice example that more can be achieved through collaboration in creative spaces” says Liamani.
She goes on to say “We are thrilled to reunite the best of Canadian talent, and bring on special guests like Rich Tanner from Vancouver, and Mexican-producer, Bastian Bell, for his first time in Canada.” Every DJ plays their tracks right now, including international names like Major Lazer and Major League DJs.

February 2nd - Discoño at Fairmount Theatre (Montreal)
LAZY FLOW, Mcherry, Jerico, La Niña Kiwi
Lazy Flow’s DJ sets are celebrations and a mastery of rhythms inherited from the pioneers of House, the icons of Ballroom, the jerking of Baile Funk, UK Bass, Bouyon, Shatta and beyond. He toys masterfully with the sounds of the African continent, the US East Coast, South America and the West Indies. He is joined by favorite local icons Mcherry, Jerico and La Niña Kiwi.
February 3rd - Porqueria at Nouvel Établissment (Montreal)

Porqueria has been making its rounds around the world. From recent visits to Seoul, to the beaches of the Oaxaca Coast to Mexico City and now back to Montreal, the versatility of the lineup is bound to have you dancing all night. And the best part? It’s a dress up party in February. The theme is futuristic Rodeo. Time to recycle those Renaissance outfits.

We will catch you undwinding after work at Vino Disco on February 8th for the Up Records showcase and right on time for the release of Up Records Edit Pack Vol. 1. Bringing you the smoothest producers and DJs in the game, we will have an early night from 8PM - 1AM with RICHTANNER (Van), Bastian Bell (MX), Tdesu (TO), SAMIA (MX/MTL), LeComplot (MTL). A little whine, and a little wine. Free entry.
February 9th - Frikiton at Igloofest + Après-Ski at Velvet (Montreal)
Frikiton is a Montreal based Latin collective with a mission to uplift the Latin music industry and provide unique experiences for the community. At the heart of Frikiton is a celebration of Latin culture and its strong roots. Through their events, and content creation initiatives Frikiton provides a platform for the Latin community and showcases its talent and diversity.
Nana Zen, DJ Lu B, DJ Pana, DJ Camm and Santo Fuego will be playing at the Videotron stage at Igloofest for the Frikiton takeover, followed by the après-ski official after party at Velvet with sets by SAMIA (Porqueria) and Mcherry (Pikete). You can expect reggaeton, guaracha, cumbia, moombahton and more.
February 11th - DIASPORQ at Apt 200 (Toronto)
Diaspora is definitely the best global sounds party in Mexico City, possibly the hottest city in the world right now. Bastian Bell and SAMIA are both resident DJs, and the party is known for having the best dancers and celebrates those that have origins from all over the world. The lineups that seamlessly go from afrobeats, afrohouse, latin grooves, dancehall, and more. We are bringing the mini Diaspora experience to Toronto at Apt 200 on February 11 with Richtanner, Bastian Bell, Tdesu and Samia. Hosted by Good Faces Agency and RSRVMRKT, the partygoers are bound to have the best style as well.
